Emotional Farewell: Heartwarming Moments Before Departure

Tiễn cháu đi Đức trước Tết, hành động bất ngờ của cụ ông gây xúc động

On January 14, Mr. Vũ Văn Hùng (68 years old, Hai Phong) experienced deeply emotional moments during lunch as he saw his grandson Vũ Minh Hiếu (23 years old) leave for Germany to continue his studies. This was Hiếu’s first visit home after nearly two years of studying in Munich.

A Meal Filled with Emotion

Taking advantage of the Christmas and New Year holidays, Hiếu spent 20 days in Vietnam to be with his grandparents without going on any trips. “Grandpa叮嘱我很多事,特别是要保重身体,多吃,不要饿着,” Hiếu分享道。在那一刻,祖孙俩都难以抑制自己的情感。饭后,Hiếu意外发现餐厅摄像头记录了爷爷独自一人时默默擦眼泪的场景。

For Hiếu, this is an unforgettable memory. Although he has always been closer to his grandmother, this moment made him realize the deep affection his grandfather had for him. “I was taken aback because I’ve never seen him like that before,” Hiếu shared.

Moving Messages Touching Social Media

After sharing the video on social media, Hiếu’s story quickly garnered over 5 million views and hundreds of thousands of comments. Many people expressed their empathy and shared their own memories with their grandparents.

“My grandfather was the same. He always loved my two brothers and me the most. If there was anything good to eat, he would save it for us,” wrote Minh Ngọc. Another user, Quynh Tran, shared: “When I flew to Korea, even though my grandfather was very old and deaf, he insisted on going to the airport to see me off. Treasure these moments because our grandparents’ time is limited.”

Love That Overcomes Time and Distance

Hiếu grew up under the care of his grandparents since he was two years old, when his parents settled abroad for work. To him, Mr. and Mrs. Hùng were not just grandparents but also like second parents. Though Mr. Hùng was quiet, he always showed his love through meaningful small actions.

Every week, Hiếu calls home to check on his grandparents. He set up a pre-configured call button on his phone so they could easily reach him by pressing a green button. “My grandmother is very gentle, while my grandfather, although taciturn, I understand his feelings well,” Hiếu said.

Despite living far from home, Hiếu always keeps his family close to heart. Unable to return for Tet, he plans to call them after work in Germany—already the first day of Tet in Vietnam. “No matter how busy or how far apart we may be, every child away from home still remembers their roots,” Hiếu expressed.

A Meaningful Message About Family

Hiếu’s story is not only about the touching moment between grandpa and grandson but also carries a profound message about family values. Tet is not just a time for reunion but also an opportunity to cherish the most sacred relationships.

“I hope those who have to celebrate Tet away from home will not feel sad, but instead, stay healthy so that next year and the following years, they can reunite with their families,” Hiếu urged.

We hope that through this story, everyone will treasure the moments spent with family and continuously nurture their love for the people they care about.
