Following reports, the Cybersecurity Division collaborated with relevant units to swiftly investigate. Their findings revealed that Mr. V., the administrator of the private group “Single Parents Association Dak Lak Highlands,” was the author of the post.
Violations and Motivations Behind the Act
At the police station, Mr. V. admitted to posting inaccurate information without verification. According to his statement, on February 1st, he witnessed a dispute between two groups of teenagers in Cư Kuin, which ended without any physical altercation. Based on this observation, he exaggerated the situation and posted misleading content online.
Although Mr. V. removed the post within ten minutes of its publication, it had already spread widely. Many users took screenshots and shared it further, exacerbating the impact.
The post was deleted but still widely shared (Screenshot).
Handling the Case and Lessons Learned
According to the Cybersecurity and High-Tech Crime Prevention Division, Mr. V.’s actions violated regulations governing postal services, telecommunications, radio frequencies, information technology, and electronic transactions. Authorities are now finalizing procedures for an administrative penalty decision against him.
This case serves as a reminder of the importance of responsible social media use. Posting false information not only causes public panic but also breaches the law, affecting public order. Each individual must carefully consider before sharing any content to prevent regrettable consequences.
Conclusion
