Female Driver Fined Heavily for Driving Against Traffic on Hanoi-Haiphong Expressway

On the afternoon of January 30 (the second day of the Lunar New Year), the Traffic Police Department (Ministry of Public Security) announced the handling of female driver P.T.T. (born in 1980, from Quang Ninh) for driving against traffic on the Hanoi-Haiphong Expressway. This is a serious violation with significant risks of causing traffic accidents.

Incident Details

According to the Traffic Police Department, at around 3:18 PM that day, authorities received reports of a car with license plate 14C-366.xx driving against traffic on the Hanoi-Haiphong Expressway, specifically at Km104. Notably, the vehicle was traveling on a lane with a maximum speed limit of 120 km/h, making the situation extremely dangerous.

Upon receiving the information, traffic police quickly investigated the matter. The car owner, Ms. P.T.T., was summoned to the police station to provide clarification regarding her actions.

The Female Driver’s Statement

At the police station, Ms. T. admitted to driving against traffic on the expressway. She stated that she had made the mistake due to unfamiliarity with the route and inadvertently entered the wrong lane. Ms. T. also submitted a written statement, promising not to repeat the offense and acknowledging the danger of her actions.

Applicable Fine

Under Vietnamese law, driving against traffic on an expressway is considered a severe violation. Ms. T. will face an administrative fine ranging from 30 to 40 million VND. Additionally, the female driver will receive a 10-point deduction on her driver’s license.
