Serious Injuries of the Patient

The patient, residing in Dien Tho Commune, Dien Ban City, was admitted with severe injuries over his body. The injuries include:

  • Skin stripping on the right face, chest, left thigh, and left abdomen.
  • Thermal burn wounds and two foreign object injuries.

Notably, the patient’s hands were the most severely injured. His right hand was nearly “blown apart,” while his left hand was split down the middle with a fractured ulna due to the explosive force.

Upon admission, the medical team conducted an urgent consultation and surgery to treat the injuries. By January 31, the patient’s condition stabilized, and he is currently receiving intensive treatment at the Trauma and Orthopedic Surgery Department.

Warning from Medical Experts

Dr. Nguyen Dinh Nhieu, Head of the Trauma and Orthopedic Surgery Department, emphasized that this is not the first serious accident caused by homemade fireworks during Tet holidays. He advises people to raise awareness about adhering to legal regulations regarding the management and use of fireworks.

“Home-made fireworks not only endanger the user but also pose significant risks to the surrounding community,” Dr. Nhieu shared. “Creating and using illegal fireworks not only violates the law but can also lead to unpredictable consequences.”

Preventive Measures for Firework Accidents

To minimize similar accidents, experts recommend:

  1. Comply with legal regulations: Citizens must not私自制作、买卖或使用非法烟花爆竹。
  2. 加强宣传教育:地方政府需加大宣传力度,提高公众对自制烟花爆竹危害的认识。
  3. 严格监督:家庭在节日期间需特别注意监督儿童和青少年,以防危险行为。
