A hailstorm hit the central area of Moc Chau town, Son La province, at 1:30 PM on April 21st.
A representative of Moc Chau town’s People’s Committee told Dan Tri that the storm lasted for about 3-5 minutes, and the hailstones were small, roughly the size of a toothpick. Damage to property is being assessed, but no injuries were reported.

Local witnesses reported some damage to crops during the storm.
The National Centre for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting announced that high temperatures would continue across much of northern Vietnam, from Thanh Hoa to Phu Yen, the Central Highlands, and the Southern region, from April 21st to 23rd. The heatwave in the North is expected to last until April 23rd, while the heat in the central region will persist until April 24th. High temperatures in the Central Highlands and Southern regions may continue for several more days.
The hydro-meteorological agency predicts that a mild cold front will bring showers and thunderstorms to the northern region from April 24th-25th and April 28th-29th. The rainfall could be heavy in some areas, and the temperature will decrease, bringing an end to the heatwave in the north.
