In addition to generating curiosity among audiences for the film, social media users have also focused on the main cast, including SyNi Trang, Phu Thinh, and Hoang Kim Ngoc. Notably, actor Phu Thinh has caught the attention of fans due to his handsome looks and muscular build.

In the film, Phu Thinh plays the role of Dinh, a soldier who returns home after being away and becomes embroiled in misunderstandings with his wife, leading to family tragedy. By the end of the movie, Dinh is possessed by a spirit, creating tense and suspenseful scenes that leave viewers on edge.

This role marks a significant transformation for Phu Thinh, moving away from previous characters such as “handsome schoolboys” and wealthy playboys.

“This is a major turning point in my career. To get this lead role, I faced numerous challenges. Initially, I was rejected during the audition because Director Hoang Nam felt my appearance was too gentle and modern compared to the character of Dinh,” Phu Thinh shared.

Undeterred, Phu Thinh worked hard to improve his physique, darken his skin, and change his image to appear more rugged and fitting for the role. Eventually, he impressed Director Hoang Nam and secured the lead in Hungry Ghost Lamp.

Phu Thinh expressed surprise at the film’s impressive box office performance and the support from audiences.

“The filming process was quite challenging. The shooting location was remote and dangerous. We faced four typhoons, with Typhoon Yagi destroying all the sets and props. For me, this success is the first ‘sweet fruit’ of everyone’s hard work,” Phu Thinh said.

Born in 1994, Phu Thinh studied acting at the HCM City Academy of Theater and Cinematography. He has appeared in several web series like If You Forget Me, The Story of Hien, The One You Like… as well as feature films such as When We Are Twenty-Five, Bright Sadness…

Apart from acting, Phu Thinh also works as a freelance model. After years of pursuing his art, he now feels more confident and hopes for more opportunities to further develop his craft.
