Vì sao Hà Nội lắp thêm hơn 40.000 camera giám sát?

The Hanoi People’s Committee has just approved the “Comprehensive Plan for Managing the Centralized Surveillance Camera System in the City.” This is a significant step toward building Hanoi into a smart city, aligning with global modern development trends.

The Role of Surveillance Cameras in Smart City Development

The surveillance camera system is considered an essential component in the construction of a smart city. Not only does it support security and order, but it also plays a crucial role in efficiently managing areas such as traffic, environment, and urban order. Hanoi aims to deploy approximately 40,200 cameras over two phases: 2025-2030 and after 2030.

Details of the Camera Installation Plan

According to the plan, out of the 40,200 cameras to be installed, more than 12,000 will be PTZ (pan-tilt-zoom) cameras and over 28,200 will be fixed cameras. Specifically:

  • More than 23,700 cameras will serve security, order monitoring, and violation handling.
  • Nearly 300 cameras will be dedicated to national defense.
  • Over 16,200 cameras will assist in state management of traffic safety, infrastructure, environment, and urban order.

Objectives of the Plan

The plan aims to ensure synchronized and modern investment in the surveillance camera system while effectively connecting and sharing data. The system is designed to meet future upgrade and expansion needs, aligning with Industry 4.0 and the requirements outlined by the Prime Minister in Decision No. 165/QD-TTg.

Current Status of the Surveillance System

Over the past few years, Hanoi has deployed more than 20,400 surveillance cameras, of which nearly 19,400 are operational with 33 different models. Additionally, about 100 camera locations at key gateways and main roads are managed by VOV Traffic to monitor traffic conditions and maintain order in the area.

Conclusion

Installing over 40,000 surveillance cameras in Hanoi is not only a significant step toward smart city development but also enhances urban management efficiency, ensures public safety and order, and improves the quality of life for residents. This demonstrates Hanoi’s commitment to applying modern technology in urban management and development.
