On the night of February 11, under the direct supervision of Colonel Tran Dinh Nghia, Head of Hanoi Traffic Police, Teams 2 and 15 of Highway Traffic Police deployed forces to conduct checks on Vo Chi Cong Street (Tay Ho District) and Vo Nguyen Giap Street (Dong Anh District) to address cases of drivers violating weight limits.
According to police, the inspections were conducted unexpectedly, leaving no opportunity for violators to evade detection.

Authorities reported that in a 90-minute period from 9:30 PM to 11:00 PM, taskforces identified and addressed nearly 10 violations. Among them, three cases involved overloading, three involved oversized waste materials, and other infractions.
For example, at 9:30 PM, police stopped a truck with license plate 29K-252.xx driven by Mr. D.V.N., which was found to be carrying sludge exceeding the permitted weight by 10 to 30%.
According to current regulations, drivers of trucks, tractors, or similar vehicles who transport goods beyond the weight limit by 10% to 30% will face fines ranging from 800,000 to 1 million Vietnamese Dong.

Additionally, vehicle owners will be fined between 2 to 4 million Vietnamese Dong (for individuals) and organizations will face fines ranging from 4 to 8 million Vietnamese Dong.
Speaking with the traffic police, Mr. N. stated that due to carrying waste (sludge), he had difficulty estimating the weight and tried to load within the limit. However, due to water mixed with the sludge, the weight exceeded his expectations. He promised to learn from this experience and avoid future violations.
Lt. Col. Nguyen Ngoc Thuyen, Deputy Head of Team 15, noted, “After focused enforcement, many drivers have changed their methods of transportation, attempting to avoid inspections. However, with surprise deployments, we have been able to strictly control and promptly detect and handle violations.”

Colonel Tran Dinh Nghia, Head of Hanoi Traffic Police, emphasized that overloaded cargo is one of the six key offenses prioritized for strict handling by the National Traffic Police Department (Ministry of Public Security).
To prevent drivers from evading inspections, Hanoi Traffic Police has developed stringent plans and deployed forces at times and locations where drivers would not expect them.
“The element of surprise is crucial; our goal is to ensure violations have no chance to escape, and we will strictly handle those who intentionally violate, posing risks to traffic safety,” Colonel Nghia stressed.
In the coming period, Hanoi Traffic Police will continue to intensify checks and penalties for overloaded and oversized vehicles to ensure traffic safety and reduce risks on roads.
