On the evening of February 16, the Hanoi Traffic Police Department announced that due to rainy weather and slippery roads, patrol teams from Road Traffic Police Unit No. 11 had been deployed to issue warnings to vehicles traveling on hazardous roads.
According to the department, the Ho Chi Minh Highway section passing through Thach That District has complex terrain, with many curves, steep slopes, and limited visibility. Even during dry weather, dense fog often occurs at night.
“Today’s rain has made the road even more slippery, increasing traffic risks,” a patrol team representative stated.

At around 9:58 PM, the patrol team noticed a truck experiencing mechanical issues in the rain. Officers immediately approached the scene to assist the driver in repairing the vehicle.
Authorities reported that throughout the night of February 16, patrol units continuously monitored the area, using specialized vehicles to signal warnings, reminding drivers to reduce speed and use proper headlights when driving in adverse weather conditions.

Lieutenant Colonel Dinh Sy Ly, head of the patrol team, noted that cold rain not only reduces visibility but also makes roads more dangerous, especially on slopes and sharp turns.
When spotting vehicles without headlights or traveling at high speeds, the patrol team signaled reminders, instructing drivers to adjust their speed and maintain a safe distance.
The Hanoi Traffic Police Department advises that during rainy conditions, drivers should use appropriate headlights, avoid using high beams that can blind oncoming traffic, and remember to slow down, avoiding sudden braking or sharp steering.
“When traveling through areas with challenging terrain, extra caution is essential to minimize the risk of accidents,” a representative from the Hanoi Traffic Police Department added.
