Since the beginning of 2024, Ho Chi Minh City’s Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs (DOLISA) has marked its presence with numerous meaningful and effective activities. These events not only reflect administrative reform efforts but also affirm the department’s crucial role in caring for the lives of citizens and businesses. Let’s review the most outstanding achievements of the department over the past year.
Digital Transformation for Public Service
From early 2024, HCMC DOLISA launched the theme “Building a Clean and Strong Party Committee, Promoting Digital Transformation – Administrative Reform.” This strategic move aims to enhance the quality of service for citizens and businesses.
The department organized 8 dialogue conferences with over 2,700 businesses participating. Simultaneously, the “Support and Companion with Citizens and Businesses” model was widely applied, helping achieve an impressive 99.77% satisfaction rate among citizens.
A New Era for Vocational Education and Employment
2024 marked a new milestone as the Department for the first time organized a vocational education enrollment and career orientation festival across the city, attracting 37 training institutions and over 11,000 students. Activities such as the National Vocational Education Teachers’ Festival and the Tran Dai Nghia Award have become a source of pride for the entire sector.
Regarding the labor situation, various economic sectors created employment for 329,687 people, a 4.4% increase compared to the same period. Notably, the urban unemployment rate decreased to 3.81%, contributing to socio-economic stability.
Gratitude and Appreciation in a Compassionate City
HCMC consistently leads the nation in caring for contributors to the revolution. In 2024, DOLISA built and repaired 290 houses of gratitude; renovated 45 martyrs’ cemeteries; and restored 112 portraits of Vietnamese Heroic Mothers and martyrs. “Back to the Source” activities were also regularly organized, bringing profound political and social effectiveness.
Eradicating Poor Households Ahead of Schedule
One of HCMC’s proudest achievements is completing the goal of eradicating poor households according to the city’s poverty standards for the 2021-2025 period, two years ahead of schedule. By the end of 2024, 13 units had achieved this goal, and it is expected that all 22 districts will complete it by Q1 2025.
Preventing Social Evils
Facing an increase in drug addicts (an increase of 27,310 individuals compared to 2023), the Department has strictly managed 13 rehabilitation centers with a total of 16,703 individuals. These efforts contribute to building a safe, healthy, and sustainable society.
Developing the Social Work Profession
In 2024, the Department collaborated to organize numerous activities honoring the humanitarian values of the social work profession. International delegations also visited Australia, Laos, and South Korea to learn from their experiences.
Proposing New Social Security Policies
Towards the 50th anniversary of National Reunification Day, the Department advised on the promulgation of 7 new policies to better care for the elderly, the poor, contributors to the revolution, and victims of human trafficking returning home.
Piloting the “Happiness Project”
The Department implemented a pilot project “Supporting Civil Servants and Public Employees to Balance Work and Family,” creating an equal, safe, and happy working environment.
Towards Party Congresses at All Levels
In 2024, the Department’s Party Committee focused on leading the preparation for the Party Congress for the 2025-2030 term. Many plans for personnel appointments and cadre planning have been finalized, ensuring a leadership team with sufficient capacity and qualifications.
Worker Movement Aligned with Patriotic Emulation
The Department launched over 20 emulation plans, creating an enthusiastic atmosphere throughout the sector. As a result, the Department proudly received the Emulation Flag from the Prime Minister and many other noble titles.
Through these prominent events, HCMC’s Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs has demonstrated its significant role in promoting socio-economic development while showing high responsibility in caring for the lives of citizens. These achievements are not only a source of pride but also a motivation for the department to continue striving in the future.
