In response to the complex outbreak of suspected measles-related rash disease in Nam Tra My mountainous district, health workers from Tra Leng commune and medical staff from the district’s health center have trekked through forests and streams to reach Thon 3, Tra Leng commune. Their goal is to monitor, investigate, and treat cases related to three child fatalities.
Health workers visited each household to raise awareness and promote preventive measures against the suspected measles-related rash disease. They encouraged residents to maintain clean surroundings.

Families with children showing symptoms such as cough, fever, and prolonged pneumonia were advised to immediately take them to the Tra Leng commune health station or Nam Tra My district health center for timely examination and treatment.

According to Dr. Mai Van Muoi, Director of Quang Nam Department of Health, as of 3 PM on February 6, the Nam Tra My district health center had 23 children under treatment, including five newly admitted that day and four discharged. The general condition of these children was stable, with some eating well.
At the Tra Leng commune health station, there were 13 children being treated, including one newly admitted and one discharged. Additionally, seven children were being treated at the Quang Nam Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital.
The total number of children under treatment across healthcare facilities was 44, with five recovering on the same day.

The Nam Tra My district health center and Tra Leng commune authorities have coordinated to ensure nutritional support and care for sick children.
Nam Tra My district authorities have directed units to work with the district health center to ensure proper nutrition and care for sick children and their caregivers; monitor the situation, identify cases, and encourage families with sick children to bring them to the health station; and collaborate with schools to gather information about sick children, preventing public panic.
The Quang Nam Center for Disease Control has deployed a rapid response team to assist Nam Tra My district, stationed in Tra Leng commune and neighboring communes.
Furthermore, they are coordinating with commune authorities and the education sector to direct the Tra Leng commune health station to actively monitor and promptly detect sick children, encouraging families to bring them to the health station for isolation and treatment.
Dr. Mai Van Muoi stated that timely detection and management have stabilized the health of 43 children affected by the suspected measles-related rash disease in Nam Tra My district.
Previously, during the Tet holiday, three children in Tra Leng commune died unexpectedly. Two of them died due to diarrhea and debility, while the cause of death for the third child remains unknown.
From January 31 to February 2, the Tra Leng commune health station received eight children with symptoms of fever, cough, and rash. The Nam Tra My district health department has treated 43 children with symptoms of the rash since before Tet until February 4.
