In recent months, Mr. D. (in Hanoi) noticed his electricity bill had increased by several hundred thousand VND. After checking the camera in front of his house, he discovered that some ride-hailing drivers often came to charge their vehicles or phones. Mr. D.’s porch always has lights on and two outdoor power outlets (which can be disconnected by a circuit breaker inside the house).

Among them, Mr. D. was most impressed by a male ride-hailing driver who coincidentally came to his house at 2 AM on February 4th. Initially, the homeowner didn’t understand the young man’s actions, only seeing him fumbling around for a while. Later, when the driver pulled out a motorcycle charger, Mr. D. realized the driver wanted to charge his vehicle.

During the hour-long wait, the driver ate, smoked, exercised, and managed to catch some sleep. Before leaving, he cleaned up his trash and, notably, clasped his hands together to bow three times in thanks to the homeowner.

“I was surprised by the male driver’s actions. Many people would just leave after charging, but only this guy thanked me so carefully. I found it both amusing and touching, feeling sorry for him,” Mr. D. said.

In fact, through his security camera, the homeowner had discovered several drivers coming to his house to charge their vehicles over several months, but he never cut the power.

He expressed understanding for the feeling of driving late at night and in the early morning amidst the cold weather for many workers and wanted to support them. To ensure safety, he also arranged fire prevention and fighting equipment next to the power outlets.

After sharing the story on his personal page, Mr. D. was surprised to receive attention from the online community. He hopes to spread positive energy from his small story.

“If they charge and express gratitude like that, then if you can, just let it continue, consider it a good deed. Wishing you and your family always peace and prosperity in business so you can help more poor people,” commented user Nguyen Lan.

“The homeowner is so kind, so many good deeds at the beginning of the year. The story is funny yet very heartwarming and touching. From the actions of both the homeowner and the EV driver,” wrote account Quynh Hoa.
