On the afternoon of January 18, after paying respects to their ancestors, Mr. Minh Phuc drove his father back to Hanoi. During the journey, he noticed signs of engine trouble and feared a breakdown mid-route. To ensure safety, they stopped at the Duy Tien rest area (on the Ha Nam – Hanoi highway).
While having a drink, Mr. Chien Thang (52, Phuc’s father) discovered five unopened envelopes on the seat next to him. Assuming someone had dropped them, the two decided to wait for 15 minutes but no one returned to claim the items.
Upon reaching Hanoi, Phuc posted about the lost envelopes on social media in hopes of finding the owner, but received no response. Two days later, he reposted in a community group with over 1.5 million members, hoping for a quicker resolution.
“I read the notes inside the envelopes which said ‘best wishes for health.’ I thought this could be money meant for a sick person or as a gift for the elderly. If it was New Year’s money that got lost, it would be truly unfortunate. I just hope to return it,” Phuc shared.

Phuc’s post quickly gained significant attention from the online community, with hundreds of comments and shares. Two individuals who claimed to be the daughter and granddaughter of the person who lost the envelopes reached out.
To verify the identity, Phuc asked them to read the names and messages from the remaining four envelopes. The daughter also provided a photo of a similar envelope for comparison. After confirming the information matched, Phuc arranged to meet and return the envelopes.
The daughter explained that her elderly father had accidentally left the envelopes behind while drinking water at the rest area. “Both my father and I feel incredibly relieved and grateful to have found the lost envelopes. We hope this story spreads positive messages, especially during the holiday season,” Phuc expressed.
On social media, Phuc’s post received widespread praise. “What a stroke of luck! The money may not be much, but the finder’s compassionate heart is truly admirable. This makes life warmer with more good people,” commented user Pham Linh. “Wishing you and your family good health. Kindness will surely bring more blessings,” added account Ngoc Trang.
