On the morning of the 28th day of the Lunar New Year, a story about a passenger forgetting belongings on a bus brought warmth to the end-of-year atmosphere. Mr. Hoàng Trung Nam (49), owner of a Nam Định – Hanoi bus line, helped recover a backpack containing nearly 3 million Vietnamese dong ($130) for a female passenger. This act not only showcased kindness but also highlighted the responsibility and integrity of those in the transportation service.
A Kind Gesture from a Nam Định Bus Company
During a trip from Giáp Bát Bus Station to Giao Thủy District on January 26, the bus crew discovered a black backpack containing clothes, personal items, and nearly 3 million dong ($130). Immediately, Mr. Nam, the bus owner, decided to post the information on social media, hoping to quickly find the owner.
“I quickly posted the information online because I knew this money was important to the person who lost it, especially with Tết approaching,” Mr. Nam shared.
After nearly three hours, a woman in her 50s contacted the bus company. After verifying the details, she retrieved her belongings and expressed deep gratitude. “I’m so thankful to the bus owner and the entire staff. I’m happy to have my belongings back and can now enjoy Tết peacefully,” the passenger shared.
Dedication of a Transportation Service Provider
Mr. Hoàng Trung Nam has been in the transportation business for nearly 20 years. He currently owns three buses operating between Nam Định and Hanoi. Known for his thoughtful service, he often provides free tickets or financial assistance to cancer patients, dialysis patients, and others in difficult situations.
“I always remind my staff to assist special passengers. Every time we help someone, I feel like we’re bringing them a bit of joy,” Mr. Nam said.
The story quickly gained attention on social media. Many users praised the bus company. User Nguyễn Huy commented, “Such a heartwarming story for Tết. Wishing the company safe travels and success.” Another user, Lan Hương, wrote, “Passengers work hard all year for that money. It’s fortunate they got it back before Tết.”
Other Meaningful Stories
This isn’t the only heartwarming story during the Lunar New Year season. On January 18, Mr. Chiến Thắng (52, Hoàn Kiếm District, Hanoi) found five unopened red envelopes containing cash at a rest stop in Duy Tiên (on the Hà Nam – Hanoi route).
Suspecting someone had forgotten them, Mr. Chiến and his son waited 15 minutes but saw no one return. His son, Minh Phúc, then posted about the find on social media to locate the rightful owner.
After verifying the details written on the envelopes, Mr. Phúc returned the envelopes to the owner’s family. The daughter of the person who forgot them shared, “My father is elderly and accidentally left the envelopes while having a drink. We are deeply grateful for the kindness of Mr. Phúc and his father.”
Conclusion
Stories like returning a backpack or five red envelopes are not just acts of kindness but also spread humanistic values within the community. Especially during Tết, these noble gestures carry even greater significance. Let’s work together to build a better society where people are always ready to help one another.
