On February 6, the People’s Committee of Nam Sach District (Hai Duong Province) organized a ceremony to present a certificate of merit from the Chairman of the People’s Committee of Hai Duong Province to Ms. Nguyen Thi Trang (50 years old, local resident).
Ms. Trang was awarded the certificate of merit for her heroic act of directly rescuing three children who had drowned on February 1 (the fourth day of Tet in the Year of the Cat).

The previous day, on February 5, leaders of the People’s Committee of Nam Sach District visited and encouraged Ms. Nguyen Thi Trang, commending her heroic actions.
As previously reported, around 5 PM on February 1, three students from Nam Sach Town and some friends were playing in the western urban area of Nam Sach Town when they accidentally fell into a lake. One girl and two boys drowned in the lake.
At that moment, Ms. Nguyen Thi Trang was taking a walk and noticed the children in distress. She immediately rushed through the railing and jumped into the lake to rescue them.
Her husband, Mr. Nguyen Tri Dung (55 years old), also helped her bring the three children safely to shore.
Among the rescued children, two were fourth-grade students, and one was a seventh-grader and a cousin of the others.
