Introduction:
2025 is a crucial year for Ho Chi Minh City in achieving its term goals, in preparation for the 12th City Party Congress and the 14th Party Congress. Recognizing this importance, the Steering Committee for Combating Corruption, Waste, and Negativity in Ho Chi Minh City has actively implemented measures to prevent and severely punish corrupt practices.
Key Tasks for 2025:
The meeting emphasized continued efforts to combat corruption, waste, and negativity, closely linked to personnel work and administrative restructuring. The focus areas included:
- Combating corruption, waste, and negativity in organizational restructuring: The Steering Committee strictly prohibits the abuse of organizational restructuring and staff reductions to engage in corruption, waste, and negativity, particularly in personnel assignments, state budget use, asset management, and equipment/vehicle management.
- Reviewing and resolving outstanding cases: Relevant authorities need to review and establish a roadmap to conclusively address difficulties and obstacles in asset appraisal and the recovery of corrupt assets, especially the Van Thinh Phat case. Progressing the investigation and resolution of cases related to Thuận An Group, AIC Company, and other complex cases attracting public attention is critical.
- Inspection, supervision, prosecution, and handling of exemplary cases: Strengthening inspection, supervision, audits, and investigations, prosecutions, and trials of exemplary cases of loss and waste will serve as a deterrent and warning. A special investigation into waste in land management will be undertaken.
- Completing the 2025 work program: The Steering Committee largely agreed on the work program, including the inspection and supervision program for combating corruption, waste, and negativity for 2025. Monitoring and guidance on four cases concluded.
Positive Outcomes in 2024:
The Steering Committee highly commended the efforts of internal affairs, inspection, investigation, prosecution, and adjudication agencies in 2024 and early 2025. Close collaboration helped clarify numerous corruption cases, including major and serious cases such as the Truong My Lan case and accomplices, the case at the Vietnam Vehicle Registration Department, and related inspection centers.
Conclusion:
Ho Chi Minh City will continue to aggressively implement measures to rectify management and combat corruption, waste, and negativity in 2025. Severely punishing wrongdoing will help build a transparent, effective, and sustainable business environment.
