Indonesia is set to face Bahrain in a crucial World Cup 2026 qualifying match on March 25th. This encounter promises a thrilling clash for both teams vying for a spot in the tournament. Bahrain’s coach, Dragan Talajic, has made headlines with a rather outspoken comparison, calling Indonesia “Netherlands 2.”

Coach Talajic believes Indonesia’s frequent player acquisitions, including those from Italy and the Netherlands, are mirroring the Dutch national team’s approach. He stated, “Every time we face Indonesia, they get two or three new players. This time, they have signed a player from Italy and two from the Netherlands. It feels like we’re about to face the Dutch national team, not Indonesia. But regardless, we must be prepared for any situation. The Bahrain national team needs to show its capability and not be afraid.”

The addition of three new players to Indonesia’s squad – Emil Audero, Dean James, and Joey Pelupessy – has further intensified the anticipation for the match. However, it remains uncertain whether these new players will be included in coach Patrick Kluivert’s squad for the Bahrain game.

Coach Talajic also expressed confidence in Bahrain’s strength, stating, “The young players in the Bahrain national team have been playing together for the past 3-4 years. I always need a team with a shared development period. This is the right time for us to reap the rewards. We’re ready for any situation. We’ll show everything we can and are not afraid. They have a good mindset, winning spirit, and trust in each other. That’s what makes me optimistic about the next four matches.”

Currently, Bahrain shares the same points as Indonesia, Saudi Arabia, China, but trails Australia by one point. This March, they will have two crucial matches against Japan (March 20th) and Indonesia (March 25th).

The match between Indonesia and Bahrain promises to be a tense and exciting confrontation. Both teams need a victory to maintain their hopes of qualifying for the 2026 World Cup.
