Two significant infrastructure projects in Bình Định, including a road connecting National Highway 19 to Becamex VSIP Industrial Park and the sông Dinh flood control system, have been inaugurated, promising to boost the province’s socio-economic development.
Road Connecting National Highway 19 and Becamex VSIP Industrial Park
The road connecting National Highway 19 to the Becamex VSIP Bình Định Industrial Park was completed after nearly 2 years of construction, exceeding the schedule by 5 months. This 19.5km road, passing through An Nhơn town and Tây Sơn and Vân Canh districts, has a total investment of nearly VND 1.2 trillion.
Mr. Nguyễn Tự Công Hoàng, Deputy Chairman of the Bình Định Provincial People’s Committee, stated that this strategic transportation route, connecting National Highways 19 and 19C and other provincial external roads, opens new development opportunities for the region. The road facilitates worker movement to the industrial park and promotes trade with the Tây Nguyên provinces and Quy Nhơn Port. It’s the final piece to complete the western section of Bình Định Province’s road network (DT 638), connecting Chương Hòa to Long Vân and Quy Nhơn city.
Deputy Prime Minister Nguyễn Chí Dũng, at the inauguration ceremony, praised the project’s significance, highlighting its crucial role in boosting trade, completing the transportation system, and developing the local economy. He requested that Bình Định Province and relevant agencies efficiently manage and utilize the road, transforming it into an economic corridor.
Sông Dinh Flood Control System
On the same day, the sông Dinh flood control system project in Nhơn Bình and Nhơn Phú wards, Quy Nhơn City, was also inaugurated. The project has a total investment of over VND 602 billion, with VND 316 billion from the provincial budget and VND 286 billion from the Quy Nhơn City budget for compensation and land acquisition. The project commenced in March 2022 and was completed 7 months ahead of schedule in December 2024.
The project’s completion will help mitigate flood risks, benefitting tens of thousands of residents in the Quy Nhơn urban area. The project also integrates urban development, connects transportation, improves the ecological environment, and contributes to completing the flood drainage system of the lower Hà Thanh River, opening new urban development spaces for Quy Nhơn City. Deputy Chairman of the Bình Định Provincial People’s Committee, Mr. Nguyễn Tuấn Thanh, said that the project has revitalized the Sông Dinh River, which had been polluted for many years.
