On February 10, music representative Daniel McCartney announced on Instagram that he and his company 33 & West would cease working with Kanye West due to harmful and hateful comments made by the rapper. The decision took immediate effect as they no longer shared the same views.

According to Rolling Stone, Kanye’s chief of staff at Yeezy, Eric Cui, also resigned on February 9 following controversial statements made by the rapper earlier in the week.

Eric stated, “I once believed in Kanye’s vision and supported his freedom of speech. But I must use my own freedom to say that violence and crimes against women and children are unacceptable.”

On February 8, Kanye posted several provocative tweets on X (formerly Twitter), attracting millions of views. In one tweet, he claimed dominion over his wife, suggesting she should listen to him because he is a billionaire. He also praised his wife’s bold appearance at the Grammy Awards, saying, “Every woman on this planet wishes she had her body and courage, even with a supportive husband.”

At the 2025 Grammy Awards on February 3, Kanye’s wife shocked attendees by removing her jacket to reveal a nearly nude outfit. Many media outlets criticized the incident, deeming it inappropriate and degrading.

Additionally, Kanye defended rapper Diddy against allegations of abuse, despite Diddy’s ongoing legal battles for sexual assault and exploitation. Kanye’s posts also included antisemitic content, praising Hitler and denigrating women, leading many colleagues to call for his social media ban.

Actor David Schwimmer, star of Friends, commented on February 9, “We can’t stop a fanatic from spreading hate and arrogance, but we can prevent them from making such harmful statements.”

On February 11, a Shopify spokesperson confirmed the removal of Kanye’s Yeezy website due to violations of their sales policies, including shirts featuring Nazi symbols. The same day, a former employee sued Kanye for mocking her Jewish heritage.

On February 9, after thanking Elon Musk for allowing him to vent on X, Kanye’s account was suspended by Musk.

This isn’t the first time Kanye has faced backlash for controversial statements. In 2022, brands cut ties with him due to antisemitic remarks.

Kanye’s X account was previously suspended by Elon Musk in December 2022. After issuing an apology to the Jewish community in 2023, his account was reinstated. Before suspension, Kanye had 32.7 million followers on X.

Born in 1977, Kanye is one of the most successful artists of the 21st century, selling over 140 million records. In February 2021, he divorced reality TV star Kim Kardashian after seven years, and they share four children. Following their separation, Kanye faced numerous controversies and lost his Adidas endorsement deal. He recently admitted to being diagnosed with autism.

Kanye married architect and former employee Bianca Censori in 2023 but did not formalize the union. Bianca’s appearances have been widely criticized for her provocative attire and behavior.

In 2024, Forbes estimated Kanye’s net worth at around $400 million, down from $2 billion. Recently, Kanye claimed to have regained his fortune, now reportedly worth $2.7 billion.
