Barbie Hsu passed away unexpectedly in Japan during a family New Year vacation on February 2. Her death left friends, colleagues, and family heartbroken. Among them, her husband, Koo Jun Yup, is still struggling to cope with the shock.

Friends reported that the South Korean DJ appeared unwell. February 8 marked one week since the actress’s passing, and Koo Jun Yup brought a cake to the gathering.
Sources say that Barbie Hsu’s husband has lost a significant amount of weight, his face appearing gaunt as he sobbed while bidding farewell to his late wife during the gathering.
Despite his exhaustion, Koo Jun Yup carefully kept an eye on his wife’s urn throughout the event. The South Korean singer’s devotion to the Meteor Garden star moved many to tears.

On February 5, when Hsu’s ashes were brought back to Taiwan, Koo Jun Yup locked himself indoors for days, sitting beside the urn containing his wife’s remains.
Koo Jun Yup initially refused to bury Hsu’s ashes according to traditional burial practices. He cried frequently and expressed his wish to keep the urn in their apartment despite complaints from neighbors.
Eventually, he had to comply with the Hsu family’s wishes and proceed with the burial.

To date, Koo Jun Yup has spoken only once to Chinese media about his wife’s sudden passing.
On February 6, Koo Jun Yup announced that he would renounce all inheritance rights to his wife’s estate, transferring everything to her mother. He also declared his intention to protect and do what’s best for his wife’s two children from a previous marriage.
When asked about his grief, Koo Jun Yup admitted: “I can’t put it into words.” The South Korean singer had accompanied Hsu during their trip to Japan, witnessing her pain in the hospital before she passed away.
He also criticized those exploiting his wife’s death for attention, urging people to act respectfully so that Hsu could rest in peace.
Koo Jun Yup was Hsu’s second husband. They dated in 1998 but broke up due to his career commitments. Later, Hsu married someone else while Koo remained single for many years.
