In a video aired on the YouTube channel Kwangjae Unnie, Kwon Sang Woo recounted that he used to enjoy eating beef liver and tripe. In 2010, while filming Daemul, there were many Korean beef restaurants near the set, so he took the opportunity to eat them often.
“The restaurant gave me a lot of free cheonyeop (beef omasum), and I liked it, so I ate a lot. However, afterward, I received abnormal results from a CT scan. My lungs turned white. The doctor said I had eaten a lot of liver and tripe, which led to roundworms,” the famous star revealed.

At that time, the actor had just gotten married. Therefore, upon receiving the news from the doctor, he was truly scared. Taking the prescribed medication and giving up his habit of eating offal helped Kwon Sang Woo gradually recover. After the incident, he also gained a better understanding of health care and maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
The incident also made Kwon Sang Woo appreciate and cherish his wife even more. On the show, the actor stated that if he had to choose again, he would still choose Son Tae Young to marry.
“I got married at 33. It’s been 16 years since then. I now have many experiences as a married man. I don’t even remember what my single life was like.
When I got married, many people were disappointed, and I lost a significant number of fans. Nevertheless, I think I was right to decide to start a family. I got married at the right time and raised my children properly. I believe that is the greatest joy in my life,” he said.

Kwon Sang Woo’s revelations caused a stir on Korean social media. His name quickly topped real-time search rankings, indicating the audience’s high interest in him.
Kwon Sang Woo (born in 1976) is one of South Korea’s A-list actors. He rose to fame in 2003 after the romantic drama My Tutor Friend. His role in Stairway to Heaven (2003) helped him become the “prince of the small screen” in the eyes of Asian audiences.
In 2008, at the peak of his career, he unexpectedly announced his marriage to actress Son Tae Young after a period of secret dating. His marriage to Son Tae Young caused Kwon Sang Woo to lose a significant number of fans and many advertising contracts.
Many viewers believed that Son Tae Young had a controversial private life and was not worthy of Kwon Sang Woo’s “white knight” image. Since his marriage, Kwon Sang Woo has not participated in as many dramas or received as many advertising contracts as before.

He focused on another passion: real estate business. Kwon Sang Woo shared, “When I don’t have a filming schedule, I often research and survey market prices for real estate properties. I’d like to work in architectural design if I were born again.”
Investing in real estate has made Kwon Sang Woo wealthier than before, becoming one of the richest entertainment stars in South Korea. No longer just a famous actor known for roles that moved audiences to tears, the current Kwon Sang Woo is recognized as a successful and “savvy” businessman.
Speaking about his motivation to earn money, Kwon Sang Woo admitted: “My father passed away very early, so it was very difficult for my family to have a complete home. I moved many times in my life. I want to do this because now I earn a lot of money, and I am married with children.”
In 16 years of marriage, Kwon Sang Woo and Son Tae Young have two children, a son and a daughter. Since 2021, the couple has sent their children to study abroad in the United States.

The family of four frequently posts happy photos on social media. Kwon Sang Woo and Son Tae Young have proven that they were meant to be together.
Earlier this year, Kwon Sang Woo made a comeback to the big screen with the project Hitman 2. The film continues the story of Jun (played by Kwon Sang Woo), a former agent who is framed by the NIS as the perpetrator after a terrorist attack similar to a case in his webtoon.
The film premiered on January 22nd and consistently set box office records in South Korea, surpassing Song Hye Kyo’s Dark Nuns. The film combines action and comedy elements. Notably, Kwon Sang Woo’s efforts to change his familiar image were also highly praised.
