“In Love, I Know When to Apologize and When to Stand My Ground”
Ky Duyen, do you see any similarities between yourself and the character Karen in “The Fab Four”?
– Karen shares some similarities with me. For example, once I set a goal, I pursue it relentlessly. However, unlike Karen, I can assess which relationships make me feel secure and are worth pursuing long-term.
I’m not as wealthy or powerful as Karen (laughs). My life has many concerns like work and family, so I’m not the type of person who would do anything to get someone.

Some say strong, independent women like Karen often struggle to find a husband. What’s your take?
– Everything in life has two sides. For instance, Karen is a powerful woman who has everything she wants but feels lonely. On the other hand, Quynh Anh lives carefree and surrounded by love but lacks individuality.
I believe nothing is absolute, and no one is perfect. What matters is that each person finds happiness in their decisions.
Are you the type to compromise and lower your pride to mend a broken relationship?
– When a romantic relationship falters, it’s not about who’s right or wrong—it’s both parties’ responsibility. Whether they reconcile depends on mutual effort and emotional connection. If the boyfriend wants to fix things but the girl refuses to forgive or be compassionate, it’s hard to move forward.
In love, I know when to apologize and when to stand my ground. A healthy relationship is balanced. If you’re always in a weaker position, you’ll end up hurt.
I keep a calm and steady mindset to handle any adversity, ensuring both sides resolve issues in the best way possible.

What misconceptions do people often have about you based on your appearance?
– Many people think I’m flashy and stylish and assume I’m not serious. But trust me, I’m a good girl in love (laughs). I may seem cold on the outside, but what I’m like inside… well, you’ll have to date me to find out (laughs).
Most of my relationships have been long-term. I’m extremely serious about love. Sometimes, this seriousness stresses my partner out, and they wish I’d loosen up a bit (laughs).
According to Ky Duyen, how should a smart woman handle betrayal or deception?
– I don’t label deception as betrayal. To me, when a relationship ends, it simply means the connection between two people has run its course.

“My Income Only Covers Basic Needs”
What was the hardest part of filming “The Fab Four”?
– In the movie, there’s a scene where Karen manipulates Quynh Anh psychologically. These characters represent two different types of women—one modern and assertive, the other traditional and family-oriented. This scene was challenging because I had to convey Karen’s intelligence and sharpness.
Another tough scene was the intimate moment between Karen and Quoc Anh. Director Trấn Thành is very meticulous, aiming for perfection in every frame. A simple intimate scene on the couch took 4-5 hours to shoot, from midnight to dawn.
Before filming, Quoc Anh drank nearly a whole bottle of wine, and I had a little to get into character. This scene required chemistry, emotions, and body language, so we were fully focused. It was exhausting, but the result was worth it.

Would you consider filming more daring bed scenes in the future?
– The most exciting part of cinema is experiencing different characters and stories. Since entering this field, I’ve been serious about pursuing acting long-term. If a nude scene fits the film and is shot artistically, I’m open to it.
What do you think about being compared to other beauty queens who acted in Tết movies this year?
– Every artist has unique appeal, and no one is exactly alike. Confidence in oneself is key. Audience preferences vary.
How do you respond to praise or criticism about your acting skills?
– My journey in cinema is just beginning, and I know I have much to improve to gain audience recognition.
Looks and fame may be advantages, but to sustain a career, dedication and hard work are essential. I want to explore more complex characters, especially those with deep psychological layers.

After 10 years in showbiz, what’s your income and asset level?
– I only earn enough to cover my basic needs (laughs). Investing in appearances and maintaining a team costs a lot. I believe in working hard while I’m young, so I strive daily to accumulate wealth gradually. Hopefully, when I’m older, I won’t have to worry too much about finances.
I also dislike depending on others, so the only way is to rely on myself.
Do you consider yourself your own boss?
– I’m my own boss, but I’d still be happy to receive gifts from my lover (laughs).
You’re often praised for breaking beauty standards and stereotypes. What’s your take?
– I think a person shines brightest when they express their true personality.
After winning Miss Universe Vietnam 2024, I continue to enjoy life while recognizing the weight of the crown. I’ve reorganized my priorities to balance my new role and responsibilities.

What are your goals for the new year?
– The past year was full of changes, teaching me valuable lessons and helping me grow. It sets the stage for me to break through and achieve new milestones. I’ll continue fulfilling my duties as Miss Universe Vietnam and aim to spread positive energy to the audience.
Thank you, Ky Duyen, for sharing!
