On the morning of February 3, General Secretary To Lam presided over a ceremony to announce decisions regarding the functions, tasks, and organizational structure of the Communist Party Central Office. At the event, Mr. Le Hoai Trung, a member of the Communist Party Central Committee, was officially appointed as the Chief of Staff of the Communist Party Central Office.
Mr. Le Hoai Trung will replace Mr. Nguyen Duy Ngoc, who was elected as a member of the 13th Politburo and appointed as the Head of the Central Inspection Commission on January 23.

Biography and Career of Le Hoai Trung
Born in 1961, Mr. Le Hoai Trung hails from Thua Thien Hue Province. He holds a Doctorate in Law and a Master’s degree in International Law and Diplomacy. With extensive experience, he has held numerous key positions within Vietnam’s political system.
He served as a member of the 12th and 13th Central Committees of the Communist Party and was the head of the Central Commission for External Relations. Additionally, he was a deputy in the 15th National Assembly. In the field of diplomacy, Le Hoai Trung is recognized as a professional diplomat with significant experience in both bilateral and multilateral foreign affairs.
Notable Career Milestones
Starting his career as a specialist at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Le Hoai Trung achieved remarkable progress. He held positions such as Third Secretary, Counselor, Deputy Chief of Mission, and Deputy Permanent Representative of Vietnam to the United Nations.
In late 2010, he was appointed as Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and reappointed in October 2014 after completing his term as Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Vietnam to the United Nations in New York, USA (2011–2014).
In 2016, he was appointed as a member of the Communist Party Central Committee, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Chairman of the National Border Committee. In March 2021, he was assigned to lead the Central Commission for External Relations, a position he held until being appointed as Chief of Staff of the Communist Party Central Office.
