On February 16, the Ia Pa District Health Center in Gia Lai Province confirmed a rabies-related death. The victim was Mr. R.K., 46, residing in Plei Kdăm Village, Ia Kdăm Commune, Ia Pa District.
According to family reports, in 2023, Mr. K.’s dog was bitten by a stray dog. While attempting to restrain and confine the dog, Mr. K. was unfortunately bitten on the hand but did not seek a rabies vaccination.

He was taken to the Ia Pa District Health Center for treatment and later transferred to Gia Lai General Hospital. However, that evening, his family requested to take him home, where he passed away on the morning of February 15.
Previously, on February 12, Mr. N., 59, from Kon Sơ Lăng Village, Hà Tây Commune, Chư Păh District, also died of rabies with an unknown source of infection.
Since the beginning of 2025, Gia Lai Province has recorded three rabies-related deaths, raising concerns about the spread of the disease in the region.
