A medical worker was attacked while providing first aid at a rural health station in Gia Lai province, sparking public concern. Gia Lai provincial police have launched an investigation to determine the responsibility of those involved and protect the victim’s rights.

Initial reports indicate that on the evening of February 11th, Mr. Nguyễn Lệ (born 1975), his brother Mr. Nguyễn Văn Lê (born 1984), and their son Mr. Nguyễn Minh Hùng (born 2006), went to the Kon Thụp Commune Health Station seeking treatment for a head injury. The station’s head nurse, Mr. Nguyễn Hoàng Quân, and deputy, Ms. Lương Thị Thúy Tuyết, began first aid.

However, tensions escalated when Mr. Lê demanded stitches for his brother, while Ms. Tuyết refused, recommending a visit to a hospital for more comprehensive care. This disagreement led to a confrontation and a physical altercation. Ms. Tuyết was reportedly struck with a slipper by the group.

Following this, Mr. Lê, his brother, and son assaulted Ms. Tuyết, striking her head, face, and chest. Ms. Tuyết was hospitalized at Gia Lai Provincial General Hospital and Military Hospital 211 for serious injuries. The situation further escalated when Ms. Tuyết’s husband, Mr. Cao Lý Vĩnh Quý, intervened and was also attacked by the group. Mr. Quý was reportedly struck in the head and shoulder with a hammer, while Mr. Lê used a wooden stick in retaliation.

Mr. Nguyễn Lệ sustained a head injury, Mr. Nguyễn Văn Lê was injured in the head and shoulder, and Mr. Cao Lý Vĩnh Quý broke his left arm.

Authorities are actively investigating the incident to determine the cause and responsibility of all parties involved. The Mang Yang District Party Secretary visited and encouraged Ms. Tuyết, and pledged to severely punish those involved and to enhance local security.
