In the joyful atmosphere of the Lunar New Year, Minister of Labor – Invalids and Social Affairs (LĐ-TB&XH) Dao Ngoc Dung extended his New Year greetings to all officials, public employees, workers, and their families within the sector. This occasion also allowed him to reflect on the significant achievements made in the past year while outlining key priorities for the future.

Outstanding Achievements in the Past Year

According to Minister Dung, the past Year of the Dragon was challenging yet marked by significant accomplishments. The entire sector successfully achieved all 13 planned targets, including long-standing difficult goals. A notable example is the improvement in labor productivity—a problem unresolved for four years—that has now been successfully addressed.

The labor market continued to develop sustainably, with stable workforce size and nearly full recovery compared to pre-pandemic levels. Relations between businesses and workers have improved through effective negotiations and agreements. Additionally, the passage of the Social Insurance Law, despite its complexity, received widespread public support, highlighting transparency and efficiency in state management.

Social welfare policies were implemented promptly and comprehensively. From wage adjustments for workers to supporting retirees and caring for social beneficiaries and war veterans, the sector ensured the rights of all groups were protected.

Moreover, the employment sector saw many positive developments. The number of Vietnamese workers going abroad reached a record high, while new labor markets were expanded. Vocational training and international cooperation also exceeded targets, enhancing the sector’s reputation globally.

Future Directions and Key Tasks

Looking ahead, Minister Dung emphasized that organizational restructuring will be carried out based on principles of openness, transparency, and objectivity. Personnel selection will adhere to clear criteria, avoiding subjectivity or unnecessary interventions.

He stated: “Choosing between two candidates is never easy. However, this process will strictly follow established principles and criteria.” The Minister also urged the entire sector to comply with directives from higher authorities, ensuring no delays or stagnation during the restructuring process.

Furthermore, the sector will focus on key tasks such as improving human resource quality, strengthening international cooperation, and ensuring social welfare. Notably, efforts during the recent Lunar New Year brought warmth and joy to war veterans and vulnerable groups, reflecting the sector’s deep social responsibility.

Conclusion

The past year witnessed relentless efforts across the Labor and Social Affairs sector, resulting in commendable achievements. Moving forward, with unity and determination, the sector will continue innovating and enhancing operational efficiency to meet public and societal expectations. Stay tuned and support the sector’s upcoming progress!
