Regarding the fire at the national relic Lang Ve Pagoda (Tho Xuong ward, Bac Giang city, Bac Giang province), the Department of Cultural Heritage has sent a dispatch to the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Bac Giang province, requesting a proposed solution.

The Department of Cultural Heritage requested the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Bac Giang to direct relevant agencies to coordinate with local authorities to promptly inspect the relic, and immediately implement measures to protect it.
At the same time, they are to assess the extent of the damage and propose solutions, reporting to the People’s Committee of Bac Giang province and the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism before 10 AM on February 11.
Mr. Nguyen Si Cam, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Bac Giang, stated that immediately after the fire at Lang Ve Pagoda, leaders of the Department and specialized units were present at the relic site to conduct an initial assessment of the current situation, cause, and initially direct remedial measures.
They are also working on overcoming the consequences and soon proposing a plan for the renovation and restoration of Lang Ve Pagoda, meeting the religious needs of the local people.
After the fire, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Bac Giang issued an official dispatch requesting a report on the fire and on strengthening measures to ensure the safety of Lang Ve Pagoda.
Previously, at around 1 AM on February 10, some residents in the area discovered flames emanating from the Tam Bao house of the pagoda and reported it to the fire and rescue police force.
Upon receiving the report, more than 40 officers and soldiers from the provincial police, Bac Giang city police, and Tho Xuong ward police were present to deploy fire extinguishing and scene protection measures.
After about 30 minutes, the fire was brought under control, preventing it from spreading to surrounding residential houses. The Tam Bao house, with an area of about 50m2, did not store ancient Buddha statues or other precious religious artifacts.
According to information from the scene, the fire caused no human casualties, but the entire roof, many wooden Buddha statues, and the building frame were severely damaged. Functional forces continue to investigate the cause and enumerate the damages.
