The Familiar Tet Atmosphere: Where Family Love Flourishes

Despite living in Canada for more than a year, the Tet atmosphere there did not bring Diem Huong the same sense of familiarity. She shared that only celebrating Tet in Vietnam makes her feel complete and emotionally fulfilled.

Upon returning home, Diem Huong and her husband took their motorcycles to tour around Ho Chi Minh City, rediscovering familiar places. She visited favorite street stalls to enjoy beloved dishes like duck porridge, boiled innards, boiled snails, and fried taro.

“Throughout the past year, I had many things to remember about Vietnam. I missed the lively life here and the bustling city atmosphere. These are things I couldn’t find in Canada. Before, I used to complain about eating duck egg stewed pork belly during Tet, but now, being far from home, I realize how precious these traditional foods like stewed pork, sticky rice cake, pickled vegetables, and fresh herbs are,” Diem Huong reflected.

Reuniting with Friends and Entertainment Activities

During her stay in Vietnam, Diem Huong not only spent time with her family but also caught up with friends and colleagues after a long separation. She participated in various entertainment activities and events, helping her reconnect with the local entertainment industry.

Her Tet plans were simple yet meaningful: taking family photos, dining together, and enjoying each other’s company. For Diem Huong, the most valuable aspect of Tet is the warm, united atmosphere.

“Especially for someone who lives far from home, the most valuable thing about Tet is seeing my parents healthy and well. Sitting down for a family meal is the most meaningful thing,” she expressed.

An Emotionally Rich Year in Canada

Diem Huong shared that 2024 was a special year for her. It was the first time she had ample time at home, focusing on her roles as a wife and mother.

“2024 was an unusual year for me, as I spent a lot of time at home, doing less work. My husband took care of me and showed his love, but I still had to manage my role as a 24/7 mother and constantly deal with emotional challenges in raising my child,” she said.
