On February 9, final-year economics student Liu Ngoc Hang from Ho Chi Minh City was welcomed back home in Cam My District, Dong Nai Province, after being picked up from Tan Son Nhat International Airport.

According to her family, Hang returned to Vietnam on a flight from Guangzhou, China, with a stopover in Hong Kong, and arrived at Tan Son Nhat Airport at 10:35 AM on the same day. The family stated that they will ask about her reasons for going to China and disappearing once she is emotionally stable.

Prior to this, Mr. Liu Xuong Menh from Song Nhan Commune, Cam My District, Dong Nai Province, reported to local authorities and the Police of District 1, Ho Chi Minh City, regarding his daughter’s disappearance.

According to the family, during the recent Tet holiday, Hang informed them that she would stay in Ho Chi Minh City to work part-time and earn money for her next semester’s tuition fees. However, after the holidays, the family could not reach her as no one answered their calls. They assumed she was busy with work and did not suspect anything.

However, after Tet, the family traveled to Ho Chi Minh City to look for Hang, only to be informed by dormitory management that she had left the dormitory on January 21 (the 22nd day of the last lunar month) and had not returned. Later, they received information from authorities that Hang was in China.
