A New Year’s dinner and free return home rides are not only meaningful spiritual gifts for cancer patients but also demonstrate profound community care, helping them ease their homesickness during the festive Tet holiday.

From early morning, the cafeteria at Hospital K was bustling with hundreds of cancer patients and their families gathering for a special New Year’s dinner. This annual event, organized by Hospital K in collaboration with the Bright Tomorrow Fund, aims to bring a warm family atmosphere to those who are far from home during treatment.

Ms. Huong, a patient from Hai Phong, shared emotionally: “After my son passed the health screening, he was able to go home for Tet. We arrived very early to join the New Year’s dinner, feeling both happy and excited.” The joyful tears in Ms. Huong’s eyes, like many other patients, vividly reflect the significance of this program.

According to Prof. Dr. Le Van Quang, Director of Hospital K, this activity is more than just a meal; it carries a message of love and sharing. For cancer patients, being reunited with family during Tet holds immense importance. To ensure no one is left behind, the hospital provided nearly 800 nutritious meals to bedridden patients.

Additionally, Hospital K organizes “Love Buses” to transport about 300 patients and their families back home for Tet. Ms. Tran Thi H., a patient in the Internal Medicine Department 6, expressed her gratitude: “I was worried about arranging transportation after chemotherapy near Tet. But hearing that the hospital is organizing free buses made me truly emotional. It shows that the hospital always thinks of the patients, even the smallest details.”

At 2:30 PM, the first buses departed from the “Hospital K Love Bus Station,” taking patients back to various provinces across northern Vietnam. This marks the eighth consecutive year of the program, demonstrating the hospital’s commitment to comprehensive care for cancer patients.

During the Tet holiday in the year of the Rabbit, “Love Buses” will run in two batches: the first batch on January 21st and the second batch on January 23rd. The routes cover a wide area, including Hai Duong – Hai Phong, Thai Binh – Nam Dinh, Phu Tho – Tuyen Quang, Thai Nguyen – Bac Kan, Hoa Binh – Son La, Yen Bai – Lao Cai, Bac Ninh – Bac Giang – Lang Son, Ninh Binh – Thanh Hoa, Nghe An – Ha Tinh.

These meaningful activities not only make patients feel warmer during the sacred new year moments but also contribute to spreading the spirit of compassion within the community. Each meal and each bus ride is a testament to the connection of love where hope and humanity shine brightly.

Conclusion:
New Year’s dinners and “Love Buses” are deeply humane activities that show the community’s deep concern for cancer patients. Let us all work together to spread these positive values so everyone can have a complete and happy Tet.
