In this video clip, Nguyen Xuan Son has ditched his crutches and is practicing walking a short distance with the help of parallel bars on either side. As always, Son maintains a positive attitude, optimistic about returning to the field and regaining his form.

Prior to this, Son suffered a severe injury during the second leg final of the 2024 AFF Cup between Vietnam and Thailand at Rajamangala Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand. The Vietnamese player fractured his leg in the 30th minute.
He was immediately taken to a hospital in Bangkok by ambulance. After initial treatment in Thailand, Nguyen Xuan Son was transferred back to Vietnam for surgery the following day (January 6).

Currently, Son is in the recovery phase. His rehabilitation process is divided into several stages. These days, he is focusing on physical therapy to aid his recovery.
Following this phase of physical therapy, Nguyen Xuan Son will enter a period of building up his fitness (approximately from the third to the fifth month post-surgery), preparing for his return to the field.
It is expected that the striker will miss the first two matches of Vietnam’s campaign in the third round of Asian Cup 2027 qualifiers. These matches are against Laos in March at home and against Malaysia in June away.
