Ó Island Resort – Đồng Trường, nestled within the largest southern hydropower reservoir, Trị An Lake, has temporarily closed its doors since the beginning of March. This news is disappointing for many tourists who had planned trips here.

Reasons for Temporary Closure

Cường Thuận IDICO Corporation, the management company, announced the temporary suspension of visitor access. A sign at the boat dock indicates the closure until further notice. This decision comes amid a request from the Đồng Nai provincial People’s Committee to clarify irregularities in land use, construction, and tourism operations on the islands.

Island Resort Operations

Spanning two islands, this resort was a popular destination with various amenities. Visitors could enjoy breathtaking natural scenery amidst Trị An Lake and recreational facilities like restaurants, swimming pools, lodging, and a tennis court. Its location, approximately 40km from Biên Hòa city center and 80km from Ho Chi Minh City, drew large crowds on weekends and holidays.

Resort Development

Ó Island Resort – Đồng Trường has gone through several development phases. In 2000, the Đồng Nai provincial People’s Committee assigned Đồng Nai Tourism Company to manage and develop ecotourism, but it later proved unsuccessful. In 2017, Cường Thuận IDICO Corporation took over and invested in new constructions, enhancing service quality, including concrete roads, restaurants, swimming pools, lodging areas, and a tennis court.

Impact on Tourists

The closure is impacting tourists who had planned trips. Many from Ho Chi Minh City had to return. Visitors eagerly await official updates on the resort’s reopening date.

Conclusion

The temporary closure of Ó Island Resort – Đồng Trường raises questions about the sustainable business operations and development of the area. We hope that the issues will be resolved quickly so that the resort can continue serving visitors optimally. We look forward to the official announcement regarding the reopening date.
