Before the Tet holiday, Cho Ray Hospital still had over 900 inpatients. This significant number highlights the hospital’s thorough preparation with adequate staff to ensure emergency care and treatment during Tet.
Operations at Cho Ray Hospital During Tet
According to Dr. Nguyen Tri Thuc, Deputy Minister of Health and Director of Cho Ray Hospital, the use of information technology in patient management has helped reduce post-holiday overload. In the past three years, the hospital has classified patients and arranged follow-up appointments efficiently even before the Tet break.
Regarding blood reserves, the hospital currently holds more than 38,700 units of blood products, ensuring sufficient supply for treatment before, during, and after Tet. Additionally, a standby blood donation team is always ready when needed.
Upgrading Modern Equipment
In 2024, Cho Ray Hospital made significant strides in upgrading its medical equipment. With over 100 contracts, the unit added numerous modern CT and MRI systems. By 2025, the hospital plans to activate a new Cyclotron machine to meet the growing demand for cancer treatment.
Supporting Patients During Tet
To bring warmth to patients, Cho Ray Hospital distributed over 1.5 billion VND to 1,600 patients. Additionally, programs like the “loving kitchen” provided free meals.
Traffic Accident Statistics
According to Dr. Thuc’s report, traffic accident cases (TNGT) in 2024 decreased by 8-10% compared to the previous two years. Among the over 14,400 traffic accident patients, about 2,000 were alcohol-related. The increased enforcement by authorities significantly reduced the number of alcohol-induced accidents.
The Dedication of Medical Staff
The emergency department deployed approximately 40 healthcare workers, including 9 doctors, to care for patients on New Year’s Eve. Despite being away from their families, these healthcare professionals remain committed to their roles and responsibilities.
Tribute from City Leaders
Mr. Phan Van Mais, Chairman of the People’s Committee of Ho Chi Minh City, expressed deep gratitude to the medical staff of Cho Ray Hospital. He emphasized that with over 900 patients staying for Tet, the workload was immense, yet the hospital was well-prepared.
Ho Chi Minh City is implementing a comprehensive health care program, and Mr. Mais hopes Cho Ray Hospital will continue to contribute positively to this goal.
Conclusion
Cho Ray Hospital is not just a place of treatment but also an emblem of dedication and sacrifice. Despite many challenges, the medical staff consistently strives to ensure the well-being of the community. Let us show our appreciation and support to those who silently contribute to public health.
