Prime Minister Phạm Minh Chính recently held a dialogue with 300 Vietnamese youth, praising their dedication and creativity. He highlighted the vital role of young people in developing Vietnam’s science and technology, innovation, and digital transformation.
A Meaningful Dialogue with Vietnamese Youth
Prime Minister Phạm Minh Chính described the dialogue as democratic, respectful, high-quality, sharing, directional, feasible, and effective. This is the third such dialogue with Vietnamese youth since the 2020 Youth Law was enacted, demonstrating the government’s commitment and expectations for the younger generation.
The Prime Minister praised the early achievements of Vietnamese youth in scientific research, technology application, innovation, and digital transformation. He noted that today’s youth, having grown up in an era of science and technology, innovation, and digital transformation, possess limitless creativity and the ability to quickly master technology.
Youth’s Creative Reimagining of National Culture
A significant highlight of the dialogue was the Prime Minister’s commendation of the youth’s innovative approach to national culture. He cited the music video “Bắc Bling” by singer Hòa Minzy as a prime example, noting its ability to inspire, reinvent traditional culture with a modern twist, and attract both domestic and international attention.
He emphasized the importance of internationalizing Vietnamese culture while simultaneously incorporating global advancements. He urged Vietnamese youth to continue this trend, creating a movement and harnessing their spiritual strength to propel material progress.
Three Important Directives from the Prime Minister
While acknowledging the accomplishments, Prime Minister Phạm Minh Chính stressed that these were only initial steps. Vietnamese youth still face challenges such as a shortage of skilled labor for scientific and technological development, intense competition in the job market, obstacles in the entrepreneurial ecosystem, inadequate investment in science and technology infrastructure, and limitations in cybersecurity and personal data protection.
The Prime Minister issued three directives:
- “Do what you say”: Developing science and technology, innovation, and digital transformation is not just a task but an opportunity for youth to showcase their prowess, intellect, and aspirations in building the nation.
- Creative thinking and decisive action: Turn aspirations into concrete and effective products, projects, and initiatives; take advantage of opportunities and respond to policies in a flexible and effective manner.
- The spirit of “unyielding perseverance”: Turn challenges into opportunities and competitive advantages, striving to master science and technology, and embrace innovation.
The Prime Minister encouraged Vietnamese youth to “think big, look far, value time and intellect, act decisively at the right moment, and push beyond their limits to continuously contribute to their homeland and nation.”
