A fishing boat capsized off the coast of Quảng Bình early March 2nd, leaving families in anguish and prompting a widespread search effort. While five fishermen were rescued, one remains missing.
Heartbreaking Aftermath of the Capsized Boat
At dawn on March 2nd, the fishing vessel QB 33180-TS, approximately 25 nautical miles from Gianh River mouth in Bố Trạch district, Quảng Bình, encountered a mishap. Initial reports suggest the vessel became entangled in fishing nets, causing it to capsize rapidly. Six crew members were aboard the boat.
Miraculously, five fishermen – Nguyễn Hoàng Văn, Nguyễn Ngọc Lương, Nguyễn Đình Kỳ, Nguyễn Khắc Cường, and Đồng Đức Tài – were rescued. However, Nguyễn Duy Dũng, due to a medical condition, was unable to hold onto a life preserver and was lost at sea.
Community Joins the Search
Following the incident, the Gianh Port Border Guard Station mobilized resources to locate Mr. Nguyễn Duy Dũng. Other fishing boats in the area also joined the search effort.
The search continues, with hopes for a swift and successful recovery.
The Perilous Life of a Fisherman
The poignant scenes of fishermen reunited with their families evoke profound emotion. The fishing industry is known for its arduous and often dangerous nature. As shared by Mrs. Nguyễn Thị Dung, fishermen face immense challenges to sustain themselves and preserve their families’ traditions.
Community Support for Fishermen
The families’ anguish and the intensive search efforts underscore the challenges fishermen often encounter. The combined determination of authorities and fellow fishermen highlight the strong sense of community and mutual support within the fishing community.
We hope that Nguyễn Duy Dũng will be found soon and return to his loved ones. The community remains hopeful and closely follows the search operations with a strong desire for a positive outcome.
