The East-West North-South Expressway project (Phase 2021-2025) in Quảng Bình, spanning 126 kilometers and passing through 6 districts and municipalities, impacting 35 communes. Nearly 4,000 households were affected, with over 550 requiring resettlement. Quảng Bình proactively planned and built 26 resettlement areas, totaling approximately 70 hectares. These areas are equipped with comprehensive infrastructure, including roads, lighting, utilities, drainage systems, and communication networks, providing residents with convenient living conditions.
Fair Compensation, Better Living
Under government policies, relocated families receive new land and fair compensation. This has motivated residents to build modern homes. Many families have constructed new homes valued in the millions of dongs, resembling mansions, highlighting the resettlement areas.
Mr. Phan Văn Thành (53, Bố Trạch District), sharing his experience, received nearly 3.4 billion dongs in compensation, which he used to purchase additional land and build a comfortable home with a small garden. Mr. Nguyễn Văn Khành also supports the expressway project, believing it will improve community connectivity. He mentioned that the fair compensation enabled him to build a new home worth 2.5 billion dongs.
Education in the Resettlement Areas
Beyond housing, Quảng Bình prioritizes education for relocated families’ children. A primary school was established at the Việt Trung Farm resettlement area, addressing the distance to school for children. This highlights the local government’s commitment to comprehensive community development.

Contractors are accelerating construction on the North-South Expressway in Quảng Bình, aiming for completion by April 30th.
