The production team of “Vietnamese Family Hearth” has announced that MC Quyền Linh will no longer host the show, effective November 2024. The program has recently changed its format, with multiple hosts now leading the show.
The producers allege that in August 2024, Mr. Quyền Linh unilaterally joined another program, “Journey of Dreams,” produced by a different company. This program shares a similar format to “Vietnamese Family Hearth,” leading to confusion among viewers.
The producers argue that Mr. Quyền Linh’s participation in the similar program constitutes a breach of trust and violates commitments made to the production company and sponsors.
“We’ve received numerous questions regarding both programs,” the producers stated. “This has led to misunderstandings among viewers. On October 31, 2024, we agreed that MC Quyền Linh would no longer host ‘Vietnamese Family Hearth’ starting with the November 2024 recording sessions.”
“We and our legal counsel are gathering evidence regarding MC Quyền Linh’s collaborations with other programs that share a similar format to ‘Vietnamese Family Hearth’. This could cause confusion amongst viewers and harm the reputation and brand of the company and production team. We are initiating legal proceedings to protect our legitimate rights and interests,” the producers emphasized.
Following the announcement, MC Quyền Linh issued a formal response on his personal page.
He stated that he is not the exclusive host of any program and does not have the authority to make decisions about the content, format, or marketing strategies of any show.
“My primary goal in participating in social programs is to help those in need and promote the spirit of mutual support, something I’ve pursued since the beginning of my career,” Mr. Quyền Linh affirmed.
Regarding the similarity in program content, he argued that “helping the vulnerable should not be limited by any brand or name.” He apologized for his participation in another program that may have caused misunderstandings or affected other parties.
“Once again, I want to emphasize that my greatest desire is not to host a program for the poor, but to continue sharing, accompanying, and contributing to many programs that spread compassion throughout society, regardless of my role,” Mr. Quyền Linh stated.
A request for further comment from Dân Trí to Mr. Quyền Linh remained unanswered.
Mr. Quyền Linh, born in 1969 in Châu Thành District, Mỹ Tho Province (now Tiền Giang Province), gained recognition in the 1990s through films like “People of Hanoi,” “The Mekong Delta,” “Blood Money,” and “Transition Period.” In recent years, he has transitioned to hosting programs like “Overcoming Yourself,” “You Want to Date,” and “Vietnamese Family Hearth.”
Mr. Quyền Linh married businesswoman Dạ Thảo in 2005 and has two daughters, nicknamed Cinderella and Hazel.
