Rach Mieu 2 Bridge: A Key Infrastructure Project in the Mekong Delta

The Rach Mieu 2 Bridge, a crucial link between Tien Giang and Ben Tre provinces, is nearing completion and is slated for opening on the 30th of April – 1st of May. After more than three years of construction, hundreds of workers are diligently finishing the final stages to put the bridge into service for the National Day holiday on September 2nd.

Project on Track, Final Touches Applied

The Rach Mieu 2 Bridge project is currently over 80% complete, exceeding the original schedule by 4%. The main bridge section is significantly ahead of schedule, exceeding expectations by over 15%. Construction teams are focusing on completing the final elements, including installing cable stays, pouring the bridge deck concrete, and finishing the approaches.

Around 500 workers and 83 technical staff members are working in three shifts, four teams, to ensure the schedule is met. Over 150 pieces of machinery and equipment are being utilized to accelerate project completion.

Modern Cable-Stayed Bridge to Reduce Traffic Congestion

The Rach Mieu 2 Bridge is a modern cable-stayed bridge, spanning over 1.97 km. This bridge is projected to significantly alleviate the frequent traffic congestion on the existing Rach Mieu Bridge, especially during holidays and festivals. The approach to the bridge on the Tien Giang side is now complete. The bridge spans over the My Tho River with a length of over 455 meters and is a pre-stressed concrete bridge design.

Worker Safety is Paramount

Construction personnel have been diligently involved in safety training programs to improve their awareness and skills related to safety measures, particularly during the construction process, especially considering the tidal conditions and the river current.
