Retirement Age Regulations Under the Labor Code 2019

According to Article 169 of the Labor Code 2019, workers who meet the required conditions for social insurance contributions will be eligible for pension benefits upon reaching the specified retirement age. For regular employees, the retirement age will gradually increase until it reaches 62 years for men by 2028 and 60 years for women by 2035.

Starting from 2021, the retirement age for regular employees is as follows:

  • Men: 60 years and 3 months.
  • Women: 55 years and 4 months.

Each year, the retirement age will increase by an additional 3 months for men and 4 months for women.

Conditions for Early or Late Retirement

Employees may retire earlier than the standard age under the following circumstances:

  • Reduced work capacity.
  • Performing jobs that are particularly arduous, hazardous, or dangerous.
  • Working in areas with especially difficult socioeconomic conditions.

In these cases, the retirement age can be lower but not more than 5 years below the general standard.

Late Retirement

Employees with high professional qualifications or special circumstances may continue working beyond the standard retirement age. In such cases, the retirement age can be higher but not more than 5 years above the standard.
