Safely Neutralizing and Relocating a Post-War Ammunition Bunker

On February 15, the Engineering Corps of the Military Command of Quảng Trị Province safely neutralized and relocated an ammunition bunker left over from the war at Vĩnh An Village, Cam Hiếu Commune, Cam Lộ District (Quảng Trị).

The ammunition bunker was discovered by local residents while they were constructing a mausoleum. It contained 42 pieces of various explosive materials, including: 11 57mm artillery shells, 7 37mm artillery shells, 7 60mm mortar rounds, 4 82mm mortar rounds, 3 hand grenades, and 10 M79 grenade launcher rounds (40mm).

After assessing the situation, authorities handled and relocated part of the explosives to a storage area. Some shells that could not be moved were safely detonated on-site by the engineering team.

Since early February, the Military Command of Quảng Trị Province has collected and processed 51 pieces of various explosive materials.
