In recent days, the Vietnamese tech market has been buzzing with news of major retailers launching a “reserve” program for Samsung’s new Galaxy series. The program runs from January 15 to 22, ahead of the official launch on January 23.

Business Strategy Ahead of Tet
Major retailers such as Thế Giới Di Động, FPT Shop, CellphoneS, and Di Động Việt have not disclosed specific product names, referring to them as Galaxy New 1, Galaxy New 2, and Galaxy New 3. These are likely to be the Galaxy S25, Galaxy S25+, and Galaxy S25 Ultra, priced at VND 24 million, VND 28 million, and VND 35 million respectively.
According to Mr. Nguyễn Lạc Huy, spokesperson for CellphoneS, launching the Galaxy S25 after Tet leverages consumers’ post-holiday spending spree. “This strategy aims to capture attention during the peak demand period,” he shared. However, the initial supply faces challenges due to logistics and consumers’ cautious spending post-Tet.
Galaxy Unpacked Event and Market Forecast
On January 23, Samsung will host the Galaxy Unpacked event to officially unveil the Galaxy S25 lineup. Unlike previous years, the Galaxy S25 series will not hit shelves before Tet this year. This delay is fueling excitement in the domestic mobile market.
Representatives from Di Động Việt expect the Galaxy S25 to contribute significantly to first-quarter sales. The Ultra model is projected to account for 70% of sales, while the Plus and standard models are expected to capture 20% and 10%, respectively.
Galaxy S24: Current Flagship
While waiting for the Galaxy S25, the Galaxy S24 remains the flagship product at many retailers. The Galaxy S24 Ultra is currently available for VND 25.5 million for the 256GB version, which is VND 8.5 million lower than its listed price.

“The demand for Galaxy S24 Ultra has surged in recent weeks thanks to special Tet promotions,” commented a representative from Minh Tuấn Mobile. This indicates that, even before its release, the Galaxy S25 is already creating significant competitive pressure in the market.
Conclusion
The Galaxy S25 promises to be Samsung’s strategic flagship for 2025, particularly as it is expected to meet the growing tech demands of Vietnamese users. Launching after Tet not only taps into the post-holiday spending spree but also provides retailers an opportunity to optimize sales. Stay tuned for the upcoming Galaxy Unpacked event for more details about the product.
