Upon discovering his mother was choking and unable to breathe, the boy repeatedly patted her back and gave her water. When that didn’t help, he performed the Heimlich maneuver behind her.
His swift actions helped dislodge the grape, allowing his mother to breathe again. Without his help, she could have suffocated.
The Heimlich maneuver was invented by Dr. Henry Judah Heimlich. It is used to rescue people choking on food or other objects blocking their airways.

When Chatwisa, a 36-year-old resident of Ayutthaya, Thailand, experienced difficulty breathing, her family called for medical assistance.
Chatwisa suffers from severe obesity, weighing over 300kg. She could only lie still and was unable to move on her own.

On arrival, medical staff were shocked by Chatwisa’s size. Despite her condition, she was drinking tea while waiting for the ambulance. To transport her, they had to break down part of her room’s wall. A rescue vehicle was then brought in to carry both Chatwisa and her bed to the hospital.
Ten strong men pulled the bed out of the house, and cables and pulleys were used to lift it onto the rescue vehicle. At the hospital, a team of doctors and nurses transferred Chatwisa to a hospital bed and into the emergency room.
Chatwisa’s father said she had been overweight since childhood. Her weight increased to 270kg last year, preventing her from moving. Her inability to exercise contributed to her reaching 300kg.
Chatwisa enjoys eating frequently and cites a broken air conditioner as worsening her health issues. Her family had previously tried to take her to the hospital but couldn’t find a way to transport her safely.
Currently, Chatwisa’s condition is stable, and doctors have advised her to immediately reduce her food intake.
