Son of NSND Thai Bao: From Pressure to Personal Success

Con trai NSND Thái Bảo: Biến áp lực "con nhà nòi" thành động lực

Meet young saxophonist Bao Anh Taruki in an afternoon lull between his packed performance schedule. Appearing with a simple yet passionate demeanor, our conversation reveals his journey from overcoming the pressure of being “the son of famous parents” to achieving personal success through talent and hard work.

Overcoming Pressure Through Music

Bao Anh Taruki (born 1992), son of NSND Thai Bao and NSUT Anh Tuan, is one of Vietnam’s standout young saxophonists. With a family rich in artistic tradition, he faced significant pressure from the label “son of Tuan, daughter of Bao.” Instead of avoiding this pressure, Bao Anh turned it into motivation for his own career development.

Last year marked a significant milestone when he released his debut album—an independent project from concept to completion. This achievement not only represents a major step forward but also showcases his relentless effort. Additionally, his Outstanding Saxophone Performer award at the 2024 National Band Festival further solidifies his position in the music industry.

“As I grew up, I came to understand the term ‘son of famous parents’ in a more positive light,” Bao Anh shared.

The Pressure of Living Up to Parents’ Legacy

Growing up, Bao Anh often felt uncomfortable when people referred to him as “son of Tuan, daughter of Bao.” At times, he wanted to avoid comparisons, even feeling irritated. However, with maturity, he began to view these expectations positively.

“I don’t want to live in my parents’ shadows,” Bao Anh said. “I want to prove myself, showing that I have my own talents and passions.”

Despite being born into a family with a strong artistic background and having access to top instructors from a young age, Bao Anh emphasizes that opportunities alone are not enough. What truly matters is unwavering willpower and continuous effort.

“My passion for music has helped me overcome every challenge,” Bao Anh shared.

First Album and Unexpected Family Support

Bao Anh Taruki’s debut album blends Vietnamese and Japanese influences, showcasing his personal touch. He kept the project secret until near completion.

“I wanted to do everything independently to prove my abilities,” he shared. His parents were surprised and proud when they heard the album. For Bao Anh, this moment was proof that all efforts are worthwhile.

“Seeing my parents proud was the happiest moment for me.”

Putting Dreams on Hold for Family Responsibility

In 2016, Bao Anh was accepted into a prestigious music school in London. However, family emergencies led him to stay in Vietnam. His father, NSUT Anh Tuan, needed urgent heart surgery, causing significant financial strain.

“The tuition at that school was very high, and I wasn’t sure if I could repay it after working,” he said. “So, I chose to stay to study and support my family.”

This decision was not easy, but it reflects Bao Anh’s maturity and responsibility.

Unique Musical Style Inspired by Japanese Culture

Bao Anh Taruki’s musical style is semi-classic pop, blending classical elements with contemporary sounds. His unique touch comes from combining Vietnamese and Japanese music.

From a young age, Bao Anh loved Japanese anime music, particularly Studio Ghibli scores. This love shaped his musical style today.

“Music is the bridge connecting me to my audience,” Bao Anh shared.

Conclusion

Bao Anh Taruki exemplifies how turning pressure into motivation can lead to success. From a boy who once avoided the label “son of famous parents,” he has become a talented saxophonist recognized by both audiences and professionals.

Bao Anh’s journey inspires young people and demonstrates that success comes from hard work and burning passion. Keep following Bao Anh Taruki to discover more fascinating stories and unique musical works!
