South Korean Husband Marks 3 Years Since Wedding with Taiwanese Actress Elva Hsiao

On February 8th, Sports Chosun reported that Koo Jun Yup shared on Instagram an image with the caption “I will always love you” set to melancholic piano music. February 8th marks the 3-year anniversary of Koo Jun Yup and Elva Hsiao’s wedding.

The actress passed away in Japan during a family trip on February 2nd. On social media forums, fans expressed their emotions and offered support to Koo Jun Yup, commending his actions.

“I can’t hold back my tears,” “I still can’t believe she’s gone forever,” “Stay strong, Koo Jun Yup, at least she had happy days with you” were some of the comments from viewers on Koo Jun Yup’s post.

Earlier, on February 6th, Koo Jun Yup announced that he was giving up his inheritance rights to his wife’s assets and transferring them to her mother. He also stated his intention to protect and provide for his two stepchildren.

Reflecting on his pain, Koo Jun Yup admitted, “I cannot put it into words.” The South Korean singer accompanied Elva Hsiao on her trip to Japan, witnessing her suffering and passing away.

Koo Jun Yup criticized those who exploited his wife’s death for attention and appealed for moderation in their actions to allow Elva Hsiao to pass away peacefully.

However, Koo Jun Yup’s post from February 6th was later removed. He explained, “My previous post may have caused misunderstandings, so I would like to clarify. Regarding the assets that should go to Elva Hsiao’s children, I hope under the supervision of lawyers and the law, the rights of minors can be protected appropriately.”

Koo Jun Yup is Elva Hsiao’s second husband. They dated in 1998 but had to part ways due to Koo Jun Yup’s career focus. Afterward, Elva Hsiao married while Koo Jun Yup remained single for many years.

In 2022, after nearly 24 years apart, they rekindled their relationship. Elva Hsiao and Koo Jun Yup got married in Korea in February 2022 and held a private ceremony in Taiwan in April 2022.

Being Elva Hsiao’s husband boosted Koo Jun Yup’s career, leading to more invitations to events and entertainment programs in Taiwan.

Elva Hsiao often praised Koo Jun Yup, describing him as a gentle and kind man who made her feel safe.

In interviews with Korean media, Jun Yup spoke about his relationship with Elva Hsiao: “I want to continue the love I felt for the woman I loved 20 years ago. My goal is to spend the rest of my life ensuring she is happy, healthy, and loved. I will always be by her side, cherishing every moment. Together, I hope we can live a joyful life.”

Elva Hsiao passed away in Japan on February 2nd. Her family returned her ashes to Taiwan on February 5th.

After Elva Hsiao’s death, tensions arose between her family and her ex-husband, businessman Uong Xiao Fei, regarding inheritance and custody of their two children. Details about the inheritance and custody arrangements have not been officially disclosed by the family.

Elva Hsiao (born 1976) was a Taiwanese actress and singer known for her roles in dramas such as Meteor Garden, War God, Summer Bubble… Since 2011, she maintained a private life focused on family care, not participating in any films.

The actress was married twice, to businessman Uong Xiao Fei and singer Koo Jun Yup, and has two children from her first marriage.
