Southeast Asian Fans Mourn Vietnam U17’s Fate, Praise Indonesia’s Success

CĐV Đông Nam Á tiếc cho U17 Việt Nam, ca ngợi chiến tích của U17 Indonesia

“The Vietnamese U17 team played very well with passion and effort. Unfortunately, they weren’t blessed with luck in this tournament. They truly deserved a spot at the World Cup.

Keep up the spirit in the next tournaments,” commented Myanmar user Yogi LungSet on the Asean Football page, witnessing the Vietnam U17 team draw 1-1 with the UAE U17, ending their Asian U17 Championship 2025 run in Saudi Arabia and missing out on the U17 World Cup later this year.

Before the match against the UAE U17, which took place on the evening of April 10th (Vietnam time), the team coached by Cristiano Roland impressively drew with both strong teams, Australia U17 and Japan U17.

Vietnam U17’s chances of reaching the quarterfinals were high, leading the UAE U17 1-0 until the 87th minute. Unfortunately, the team coached by Cristiano Roland conceded an equalizer, leaving them to end the tournament with three draws (Vietnam U17 earned 3 points, finishing last in the group, while the remaining 3 teams each earned 4 points, with Japan U17 and UAE U17 advancing to the quarterfinals).

The late goal not only eliminated the Vietnam U17 team from the Asian U17 Championship but also cost them a place in the World Cup. However, the team’s performance under coach Cristiano Roland was praised by many Southeast Asian fans.

“The Vietnam U17 team fought brilliantly until the end. But the final minutes were truly unlucky,” Indonesian user Erik Hermawan Nurhalil lamented the Vietnam U17 team’s fate.

“Vietnam U17 played very well. They didn’t lose to any team in the group stage but ended up last in the standings and had to say goodbye to the tournament. They conceded a very unfortunate goal in the final minutes,” Thai user Wongsakorn Siriwat commented.

“At least you didn’t lose in the tournament. Come on, you guys, you played really well. This time you were just unlucky. You played much better than before,” Malaysian user Csar Boen commented.

“Three points for Vietnam U17, that doesn’t matter. You fought your heart out and learned valuable lessons against strong Asian teams. Best of luck in future tournaments,” Philippine user Garfast Art emphasized.

Notably, after the final round of the 2025 Asian U17 Championship group stage, many Southeast Asian fans praised the Indonesian U17 team for winning all three of their matches, earning a spot in the quarterfinals as group winners and qualifying for the World Cup.

“Congratulations to the Indonesian U17 team from Vietnam. You played very well, defeating the South Korean U17 team and winning the group to advance to the quarterfinals and secure a place in the World Cup,” commented Vietnam user Trần Ngọc Quân.

“Won all three matches. Defeating South Korea U17 shows the impressive strength of the Indonesian U17 team. You are amazing,” Myanmar user Rizal Bintang commented.

“As a fan from Thailand, I congratulate both the Indonesian and Vietnamese U17 teams. You played very well. Vietnam U17 was unfortunately eliminated, but they didn’t lose to anyone.
For Indonesia, although their matches against Yemen and Afghanistan were relatively easy, their victory over South Korea U17 is a masterpiece. Respect to you,” Thai user Muad Rodriguez stated.
