Sunny and mild conditions greeted Ho Chi Minh City on the morning of February 6, with light breezes and temperatures around 22°C. Many commuters enjoyed the cool air in the early hours, but as the day progressed, temperatures rose, leading to a more uncomfortable heat by midday.
“Since the start of the Year of the Dragon, the weather in Ho Chi Minh City has been quite stable, with no rain and mild mornings transitioning into hot afternoons. In the evenings, temperatures drop to about 22°C, making it feel slightly chilly when I’m out,” shared Ms. Thuy (23 years old, residing in District 11).

According to the Southern Regional Meteorological and Hydrological Center, although cold air is weakening in the north, its effects will continue to influence southern provinces. Over the coming days, southern Vietnam and Ho Chi Minh City can expect sunny days and dry nights. Daytime temperatures are expected to rise slightly, while nighttime temperatures will decrease marginally.
Some areas in the south have recorded lows below 16°C, such as at Ta Lai (Dong Nai) where the temperature dipped to 15.6°C. Elsewhere, nighttime temperatures typically range from 19-22°C, rising to 32-34°C during the day. In Ho Chi Minh City, the highest temperature was recorded at Nha Be at 31.7°C, while the lowest was measured at Tan Son Nhat Airport (District Tan Binh) at 21°C.
Over the next 2-3 days, cold air from the north will strengthen again before spreading southward. This suggests that Ho Chi Minh City and southern regions will maintain sunny days, with a possibility of light rain at night. Early mornings may be slightly hazy, creating a gentle chill for residents.
Additionally, the National Meteorological and Hydrological Center predicts similar weather conditions for the upcoming days: sunny days, dry nights, and light northeast winds at level 2-3. Nighttime temperatures are expected to range between 21-23°C, while daytime highs will be between 30-33°C.
These forecasts help residents stay informed about the weather to better plan their daily activities and ensure health and safety outdoors.
