Stay Safe on the Roads During Drizzle and Fog in Hanoi

CSGT Hà Nội cảnh báo người dân di chuyển dưới mưa phùn, sương mù

On February 6th, the Traffic Police Department of Hanoi issued a warning about prolonged drizzle affecting the city’s roads. This weather condition not only makes the road surface slippery and reduces vehicle traction but also limits visibility for drivers, especially during peak hours when traffic density is high.

Important Tips for Safe Travel in Drizzly and Foggy Weather

For Motorcyclists

The Traffic Police Department advises residents to pay attention to the following points for safety:

  • Maintain a steady speed: Avoid sudden acceleration or braking as the slippery road can lead to accidents.
  • Proper use of raincoats: Wear raincoats neatly and avoid using umbrellas while riding to prevent obstructing your view and endangering other vehicles.
  • Safe braking techniques: Avoid abrupt braking; if necessary, brake with both wheels simultaneously to prevent wheel skidding.

For Car Drivers

Car drivers should also follow basic guidelines:

  • Reduce speed and maintain safe distance: Keep a sufficient distance from the car in front to handle unexpected situations.
  • Turn on low beams or fog lights: This improves visibility in poor weather conditions.
  • Be cautious when changing lanes: Use turn signals early and carefully observe before switching lanes.

Additionally, the Traffic Police emphasized that brakes and tires can be affected by wet weather. Therefore, it is crucial to inspect your vehicle thoroughly before each trip. “Safe driving not only protects your own life but also contributes to creating a safe and smooth traffic environment in the capital,” shared a representative from the Traffic Police.

Weather Forecast and Its Impact on Traffic

According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, on the morning of February 6th, Hanoi and many northern regions continued to experience light rain and drizzle along with cold temperatures. Temperatures are expected to rise slightly in the afternoon but will remain low.

In particular, from the afternoon of February 7th, a strong cold air mass will affect the Northeast region, then spread to Northwest, North Central, and some areas in South Central Vietnam. From the night of February 7th, the Northern region will experience severe cold, while the North Central region and from Quang Binh to Hue will also become cold, with some places experiencing severe cold.

The lowest temperatures during this cold spell are forecasted as follows:

To ensure safety, residents need to enhance their awareness of traffic laws, thoroughly check their vehicles, and apply appropriate preventive measures. Drive safely to protect yourself and your community!
