The National Assembly Standing Committee passed a resolution on the organizational structure of the Supreme People’s Procuracy at its afternoon session on February 7, with 100% approval from members.
According to this resolution, the Supreme People’s Procuracy will have 24 units, including the Inspection Committee; Office; Department of Prosecution and Investigation of Security Cases; Department of Prosecution and Investigation of Social Order Cases; Department of Prosecution and Investigation of Economic and Corruption Cases; Department of Prosecution and Investigation of Drug Cases; Department of Prosecution and Investigation of Judicial Cases; Department of Prosecution and Criminal Trial; Supreme People’s Procuracy Investigation Agency; Department of Prison Supervision and Execution of Criminal Sentences; Department of Civil Case Prosecution…

The Prosecutor General of the Supreme People’s Procuracy will define the organizational structure, tasks, authorities, and working relationships of the units within the Supreme People’s Procuracy.
Previously, the Supreme People’s Procuracy reported that the Politburo agreed with the review, reorganization, and restructuring of the organizational structure of the prosecution system, including the Supreme People’s Procuracy.
Some departments within the Supreme People’s Procuracy with similar functions or small scales have ceased operations, merged, and been reorganized.
Specifically, the Department of Prosecution and Investigation of Economic Cases (Department 3) and the Department of Prosecution and Investigation of Corruption and Official Misconduct Cases (Department 5) were merged into the Department of Prosecution and Investigation of Economic and Corruption Cases.
The Department of Awards and Motivation has ceased operations and its responsibilities have been transferred to the Office of the Supreme People’s Procuracy.

Hanoi University of Prosecution (T2) merged with the training and professional development institute in Ho Chi Minh City (T3), and the name of the merged unit is Hanoi University of Prosecution.
The Department of Legal Affairs and Scientific Management and the Journal of Prosecution have been restructured into two units: the Department of Legal Affairs and the Institute of Prosecutorial Science.
Additionally, some departments under the Supreme People’s Procuracy have names that are too long and lack high-level generalization.
For example, the Department of Prosecution of Administrative Cases, Business and Trade Cases, Labor Cases, and Other Cases as Provided by Law; the Department of Prosecution and Investigation of Cases Involving Judicial Activities, Corruption, and Official Misconduct…
Therefore, the Supreme People’s Procuracy proposes to revise the names of some units to ensure they are concise and generalized while maintaining their original functions and tasks, and aligning them with the Supreme People’s Court and the Ministry of Public Security.
