Tan Son Nhat Airport Welcomes Massive Return of Passengers on Tet’s 4th Day

On January 1 (Tet’s 4th day), Tan Son Nhat International Airport recorded an enormous influx of passengers, with over 145,000 people expected to be served and 945 flights operated in a single day. Among them, more than 88,000 were arrivals and over 57,000 were departures.

The airport buzzed with activity from early morning, with long queues at check-in counters and crowded waiting areas, especially at the international departure gate and domestic arrival gate. Enhanced security measures and additional staff were deployed to ensure safety and support passengers effectively.

Many passengers shared that they wanted to return to Ho Chi Minh City early to rest and prepare for the new year’s work schedule.

Representatives from Southern Airports Authority stated that the number of passengers expected to arrive on January 2 (Tet’s 5th day) is forecasted to set a new record, surpassing 160,000. To alleviate the pressure on incoming flights, Tan Son Nhat has implemented several measures, including increasing staff, optimizing procedures, and adding more flights. Additionally, bus services and ride-sharing taxis are operating at full capacity to ensure quick connections between the city center and the airport.

According to initial statistics, Tan Son Nhat International Airport is expected to serve over 4 million passengers from January 14 to February 12 (from the 15th day of the last lunar month to the 15th day of the first lunar month). This includes over 1.5 million international passengers and approximately 2.5 million domestic passengers, corresponding to over 26,000 flights.

The airport is projected to operate an average of 800 flights per day, with a peak of 970 flights. Notably, on January 22 (22nd day of the last lunar month), the airport conducted a total of 1,000 flights.
