Tan Son Nhat Airport Welcomes Over 136,000 Passengers on the Third Day of Tet

On the third day of Tet (January 31), Tan Son Nhat International Airport recorded a significant increase in operations with nearly 900 flights, serving over 136,000 passengers. This is an encouraging sign that travel demand during Tet remains high.

Operations at Tan Son Nhat Airport

According to statistics from Tan Son Nhat International Airport, the number of arrivals reached nearly 77,000 passengers, with approximately 51,000 being domestic travelers. Meanwhile, departures numbered around 60,000 passengers, including 34,000 domestic travelers. Peak hours such as 6 AM, 10 AM, 11 AM, 3 PM, and 5-8 PM saw a notable rise in passenger traffic.

Despite the heavy influx of passengers, the domestic arrival area remained spacious and orderly, with no congestion or overload. This reflects the careful preparation by airport management to meet the travel needs of the public.

Forecast for Increased Passenger Traffic from the Fourth Day of Tet

Representatives from the Southern Airports Authority stated that from the fourth day of Tet, passenger numbers at Tan Son Nhat Airport are expected to surge further after the peak period for returning home before Tet. The airport anticipates welcoming more than 140,000 passengers daily, including both international and domestic travelers.

From January 14 to February 12 (from the 15th day of the last lunar month to the 15th day of the first lunar month), Tan Son Nhat Airport aims to serve over 4 million passengers, corresponding to more than 26,000 flights. Of these, international passengers are estimated to reach over 1.5 million, while domestic passengers will account for about 2.5 million.

Efforts to Enhance Operational Capacity

To meet the increased transportation demands during Tet, airlines have bolstered their resources by leasing an additional 14 aircraft, bringing the total number of operational aircraft to 212. Vietnam Airlines leads with 99 aircraft, followed by Vietjet with 98, Bamboo Airways with 8, Pacific Airlines with 3, and Vietravel Airlines with 4. This represents a 5-aircraft increase compared to the same period in 2024.

On January 22 (22nd day of the last lunar month), Tan Son Nhat Airport set a new record by operating 1,000 flights, serving nearly 150,000 passengers. According to the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam, from January 28 (New Year’s Eve) to February 3, the airport served 6,100 flights and approximately 900,000 passengers, marking an 8.7% increase in flights and a 4% increase in passenger numbers compared to the same period in 2024.
